Strawberries & Cream Blossoms
Strawberries & Cream Blossoms
When you think of cookies, the first things that probably come to mind are chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, or perhaps a warm snickerdoodle. But what if you could elevate the classic cookie with the bright, tangy flavor of fresh strawberries? Enter: Strawberries & Cream Blossom Cookies—a deliciously sweet, swirled treat that combines the rich, buttery goodness of a cookie with the fresh, fruity flavor of strawberries in a fun, marbled design. Perfect for spring or anytime you’re craving something a little different, these cookies are sure to be a hit.
Also, I have a confession – these cutesy cookies are inspired by the Taylor Swift Lover Cardigan – I couldn’t help myself, it was so cutesy and girly, & perfect for Valentine’s Day! Don’t blame me, love made me crazy.
Why Strawberries & Cream Blossoms?
These strawberry & cream blossom cookies are so cute and festive for Valentine’s Day, Easter, or any time! In this recipe I’ve used Valentine’s themed candy, but you could easily substitute this for other types of season chocolates.
Strawberry and cookie dough are a match made in heaven. The rich, buttery dough pairs beautifully with the sweetness of strawberries, and when swirled together, the result is a cute and delicious treat. The soft, chewy texture of the cookie balances perfectly with the juicy strawberry flavor, making these cookies not only pretty but delicious too!
The Best Part about Strawberries & Cream Blossoms?
You make them from a cake mix! So these cookies are super easy and come together with a few simple ingredients. I love making sweet treats that not only taste great but are easy too. Cake mix cookies definitely fit the bill!
Supplies Needed
- The only special supply you’ll need with these cookies is the Lorann Strawberry Flavoring. You could also use a different brand of strawberry flavoring, but it can be hard to find. I like to get the Lorann brand from Hobby Lobby or Amazon.
- You do not need an electric mixer for this recipe, since you start with melted butter. A simple mixing bowl and spoon will work just fine!
Variations on Strawberries & Cream Blossoms
Since it’s close to Valentine’s Day I’ve topped these with the Hershey’s pink cookies and creme hearts. I can’t wait to make this again close to Easter for more seasonal options! Whether you top them with cookies & cream chocolates or something else – they’re sure to be delicious.
Strawberries & Cream Blossoms – Step by Step Pictures
Let’s get to baking!
Ingredients
- Boxed white cake mix
- 1/2 cup salted butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- Strawberry flavoring
- a few drops of Pink food dye
- Sprinkling sugar
- Hershey’s Pink Cookies & Creme Hearts
Directions
- Melt butter in microwave-safe bowl. Mix cake mix and eggs into melted butter. Mix until combined.
- Divide the dough in half and place half in a separate bowl.
- In one half of the cookie dough, add 1/2 tsp Lorann Strawberry Flavoring and 3-5 drops pink food dye. Mix until combined.
- Chill dough for 15 min. If you skip this step your cookie dough will be too sticky to work with in step 6! While dough is chilling, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- You can do this next step however you please – but roll some strawberry dough with the plain cookie dough for each cookie. I did this by scooping each cookie dough out, diving each scoop in half, then combining 1/2 scoop of each flavor dough together. Break the dough up and press it back together to make a nice swirl with the different doughs.
- Roll each dough ball in sprinkling sugar.
- Place cookies on cookie sheet and bake for 8-9 minutes. After pulling them from the oven immediately top each cookie with a chocolate heart. Allow to cool, then enjoy!
