Ingredients
- 3/4 cup salted butter, softened or room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp red food dye
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 cup coco powder
- 1 1/2 cup flour
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
- (1) 8oz block of cream cheese
- 1/4 cup salted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 4 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees, grease an 8×8 baking dish or line with parchment paper
- Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy
- Add egg, red food dye, and vanilla
- Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl, then slowly add into the butter and sugar mixture, mixing until combined
- Evenly spread cookie dough in baking dish
- Bake in 350 degree oven for 18 minutes
- Cool completely before frosting
For the Cream Cheese Frosting
- Mix room temperature butter and cool cream cheese on high until combined and light and fluffy
- Add in vanilla and powder sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing until combine
- Spread evenly on your cooled Red Velvet Cookie Bars. Top with festive Christmas sprinkles and enjoy!
